Peerless PT650 Universal Tilt Wall Mount for 32″ to 50″ Displays (Black) Review

My Panasonic TH50PZ800U (50″ x 32″, 80lbs) fits just fine. I have it mounted slightly off center on the bracket and there is no problem. The bracket is totally hidden by the tv. The arms have socket-like adjusters. There is room to reach behind the tv, loosen the adjusters and then tilt the tv out whenver you need to make a new connection or adjust the angle. I needed to connect new hdmi cables a couple of times and the tilt mount allows you to tilt the bottom of the tv out about 4 inches from the wall, make the connection, then tilt the tv back to the desired viewing angle and re-tighten the adjusters. If you don’t have a really heavy tv, you might be able to tighten the adjusters to the point where it will hold the tv in place but still allow you to tilt the tv without having to loosen and re-tighten the adjusters. However, my tv is too heavy for that.

I noticed that other peerless products had reviews, but this one did not. Even though this is the product that is currently listed on the manufacturers website.

Peerless mounts really do live up to their name. They are functional and well designed. While the gloss black finish is hidden behind the TV, the equipment looks and feels good while putting it all together.

I had one small issue with this mount though. They come with several individually bundled metric screws that fit a wide range of TVs. I found the ones that fit mine right off the bat. [Sony KDL-46W3000] Which used the M6 screws. However the package came with M6×12 which was too small, and the next step up was M6×20 which fit on one side of the tv, but not on the other. This seems like it was my TV’s fault, but I did have to go out and purchase additional M6×16 screws to get it just right.

Peerless is solid equipment and paying double the amount or more for a mount sold in a retail store doesn’t make any sense.

Shopping Experience:

I ordered 2 new mounts from Amazon, but when they arrived one was in the retail box, the other was in a makeshift cardboard box. It contained all the pieces, but it was taped up and thrown together as best as possible, but it was definately not the brand new retail box I was expecting. I’m not sure if it was destroyed in shipping or what, but I was dissapointed in the manner it arrived.

The equipment was undamaged and contained all pieces, though there was a bit of moisture on some of the plastic bags inside the box. I can’t rate the product poorly due to the shipping experience though. I suppose one order out of over 100 from Amazon is bound to be flawed.

Peerless SF640 Fixed Low-Profile Wall Mount for 23″ to 46″ Displays (Black) Review

Very sturdy. Made in U.S.A. Easily holds up our 32″ LG and I suspect it could support a much larger and/or heavier screen.

The only con I can think of is I wish they supplied the hex key without a right angle (i.e., just a long hex bar that could be rotated through the fingers), because it’s impossible to simply keep turning it. In other words, there’s not enough clearance next to the wall. And because it’s such a long screw and it’s so dark up there, it can take some time to keep finding the screw head each turn.

Also, recently I upgraded my DVD player to an HDMI-compatible one, and it was necessary to take the TV off the mount to plug in the cable. There was no way to access this while it was still mounted. Perhaps this would be an issue with other mounts as well.

Otherwise (and indeed, in spite of this), I would have no hesitation buying this again for another set.
